Across Europe on long-distance bike paths.
As many as four long-distance bike paths run right through Glückstadt. And on the bike paths along the Elbe and the North Sea coast, you’re literally only a stone’s throw away from the big ships. Following the course of the Elbe, the path crosses the marshlands of the Elbmarschen, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Northern Germany. The Mönchsweg (Monks’ Trail) is one of the most recently built long-distance bike paths. The route leads from Glückstadt to Fehmarn, and therefore through all the various kinds of landscape that Schleswig-Holstein has to offer. The long-distance path Deutsche Fährstraße (German Ferries Route) is not only a feast for hardened technology fans: on the long-distance path from Kiel to Bremervörde, which was designed for not only (but also) cyclists, visitors are provided with nearly every conceivable method of crossing a stretch of water. Fun and excitement guaranteed!
