More than 50 bridges over troubled water …cycle happy!

German Ferries Route

Deutsche Fährstraße

On the route from Kiel to Bremervörde, cyclists will cross countless rivers and channels on a path spanning 230 km. The path provides cyclists with nearly every conceivable method of crossing a stretch of water, such as tunnels, bridges and ferries. One highlight of this route is the use of one of the last two transporter bridges in Germany.

In Glückstadt, cyclists can use the Elbe ferry to cross the river. While on the ferry, you can finally take the time to relax and enjoy the landscape of Holstein’s famous marshlands (the Elbmarschen) from the water.
